New York-based Washington Square Films’ award-winning director Mark Pellington brings his signature story-driven aesthetic to a new music video for Demi Lovato’s latest single “Tell Me You Love Me” co-starring actor and activist Jesse Williams. Pellington takes a narrative approach to the music video, illustrating a sweepingly romantic, yet ultimately tragic love story between Lovato and Williams. The video, shot on location in Los Angeles, takes viewers on a rollercoaster of emotions, chronicling the couple’s tumultuous relationship: from passion-filled moments to a wedding proposal, excitement, yelling matches stemming from trust issues and eventual heartbreak.
A seasoned music video director, Pellington has directed a diverse range of music videos for iconic artists including U2, Michael Jackson, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, Bruce Springsteen, Moby, Alice in Chains, Nine Inch Nails, The Fray, Jason Mraz, Dave Matthews and Leonard Cohen, among numerous others, earning multiple MTV VMA and Billboard Music Awards for his thought-provoking work.
Beyond music videos, Pellington has also boasted a diverse slate of documentary and narrative films. Most recently, he executive produced and directed a number of episodes for NBC’s Emmy-nominated drama series “Blindspot” and helmed the feature film The Last Word which debuted at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival. He has also helmed commercials and branded content for such top brands as United Healthcare, GMC, Gatorade, Ikea, The Ad Council, Ford, McDonald’s.
