Production company and collective Rumpus Films officially opens for business this week.
Led by Mike Long, former advertising creative director, film director, and Head of Creative Lab at TikTok, Rumpus is focused on partnering with creatives to produce multi-platform content without the budget blowouts. Long, with over 20 years in global industry experience, including Droga5 and Saatchi & Saatchi, also spent part of his career as a director at Epoch Films, where he directed campaigns for BBH, Adam & Eve London, and Wieden + Kennedy.
"I want to take what I’ve learned on all sides, agency, production, and brand, and start collaborating directly with creatives as a partner and director" said Long. "I can help agencies navigate in this space, and I know how to make the work have a stronger impact. Rumpus is all about keeping production standards high and making work that’s noisy enough to stand out, especially when you have limited budgets."
Rumpus has already hit the ground running with Hip Hop Holla a fun, social series with two puppets who pay their respects to important days in hip hop history for Australian car insurance brand Rollin’, with agency Bear Meets Eagle On Fire, and a new spot for Instacart showing people using their smartphones in unexpected ways, with Austin based agency McGarrah Jessee.
“If you have anything fun, odd, irreverent, or ridiculous and need a partner to make it stand out, Rumpus is here for you,” said Long.
