Vittorio De Sica's 1948 neorealist classic Ladri di Biciclette (Bicycle Thieves) may be one of cinema's greatest ever films, but it's not the sort of pop-culture hit you see referenced in many commercials.
Taking its cue from the original's father-and-son hunt for missing items comes streetwear brand Patta and creative production company C41's Ladri di Patta, an atmospheric and touching story of a lad's lost gift and his dad's attempted retrieval.
Deliciously captured by Dutch director Victor D. Ponten, and backed with a reimagination of the the original film's melancholic soundtrack by Patta affiliated musician Willem de Bruin, this characterful and gently constructed short is a neat celebration of the one year anniversary of the Patta Milan store.
