The pandemic and its subsequent numerous lockdowns saw many in emotional turmoil, but also gave us a glimmer of the power of community spirit.
Taking the themes of community, kindness and sharing the load is Serviceplan's wonderfully heartwarming campaign for German supermarket PENNY, promoting their collaboration with the German Red Cross through delightful storytelling.
Following a boy named Felix who upsets people with thoughtless (yet understandable) acts, PENNY Christmas 2020 utilises 2D and 3D animation in a collaboration between Glassworks directors Rüdiger Kaltenhauser, Darren Macpherson, Kyle Obley, Hugo Rodríguez to capture sincerity in setting, character and emotive responses.
Christoph Everke, Creative Managing Director of Serviceplan Campaign explains: "The film is based on a very simple idea: the world would be a better place if we not only imagined it, but also acted accordingly. This is our message to you...The great thing is that PENNY is actually doing something constructive, and putting this message into practice at Christmas, together with the German Red Cross.
