The zoetrope, one of the oldest forms of animation, has had a fun renaissance of late with gigantic 3D offerings from animation studios Pixar and Studio Ghibli substituting the drum and slits for strobe lighting and flair.
Taking the cyclical nature of the form and rendering it digitally (thanks to ETC) in a deliciously tactile manner is François Rousselet's video for Pharrell Williams, Tyler, The Creator and 21 Savage's latest track, Cash In Cash Out.
Featuring each artist enjoying the fiscal fruits of their labour, the DIVISION director's film captures the magic of the optical illusion with close-up studies set in contrast to wide shots showing the piece in action. The only question is, where/how can we see it in real life?
