Never mind snowy scenes and celebrity chefs telling you what to buy this Christmas, this fun seasonal offering from grocery chain Pick 'n Pay takes us straight to the tropical paradise of a South African beach.
The fun creative, developed by Halo and playfully directed by Peter Pohorsky through Plank Film Productions, uses clever in-camera craft and dry humour to tell the story of a couple who, granted three wishes by a genie from a sandy teapot, ask simply to be surrounded by loved-ones this holiday season.
With the help of Afropop band Mango Groove repurposing their not-so-festive track Special Star, the spot highlights a simple idea: South African families are scattered everywhere, but Christmas pulls them back together.
