Pogo Pictures
has welcomed Director Sean Mullens to the company’s talent roster. Mullens brings to the company a keen comedic sensibility and a seasoned collaborative spirit. He joins a Directorial roster, which includes company owner Steve Colby and Ryan Smith. Pogo Pictures represents Mullens on the east coast and in Texas.

Director Sean Mullens has focused on creating and directing national T.V. commercials, music videos, and films. Sean studied advertising and design at the Art Center College of Design. Soon after he joined FCB San Francisco as Vice President/Creative Director, where he created award-winning advertising for Levi's and MTV. Sean rocked his way into filmmaking by writing and directing music videos for R.E.M., Third Eye Blind, Courtney Love and many other music artists. Sean's work resides in both the Museum of Modern Art and the Smithsonian. His documentary films and commercials for VW, ESPN and Vitamin Water have received international acclaim including an Emmy nomination, Cannes Film Festival Gold Lions, Golden Clios and Grand Jury Awards from the Austin and London International Film Festivals.

According to Pogo Pictures’ Executive Producer Ruth Agee, who also serves as President of the AICP Southeast, she is extremely excited to welcome Sean to the company’s talent roster. “Sean is one of those unique Directors who is so creative and collaborative once he gets involved in the process,” she says. “Two days after we signed Sean, we were already bidding him on multiple projects. He just landed his first job for agency JWT, which we are shooting later this month.”

Fellow Director and Pogo Pictures’ owner Steve Colby agrees that Sean is incredibly talented. “When you look at Sean’s work, you see a Director who has intrinsic timing for comedy,” he details. “His work is funny and quirky, but is also sophisticated. That sophistication comes with experience. Sean has won a series of very impressive awards, but his work remains fresh, as is his approach.”

For Director Sean Mullens, signing with Pogo Pictures is an opportunity to extend his directorial career to include commercials, as well as television and film projects. “I decided to join Pogo Pictures because Steve and Ruth are like-minded people, very down-to-earth, doing some extremely creative work,” he notes. “They have built a national company from Atlanta with some very loyal clients, and that was interesting to me. As a Director, I am always looking to expand my creative base. Pogo gives me that chance to continue as a visual and comedy Director in commercials, but to also expand out to branded content, television and film projects. I want to spread my creative wings a bit, and they are very supportive of that.”

Currently focused on his first commercial project for Pogo Pictures, collaborating with JWT, Sean is also shooting a documentary entitled “Pull” about his small community just north of San Francisco, and its history around an annual tug of war competition, between Stimson Beach and neighboring town Bolinas. Shooting the film this year, the doc is destined for the film festival circuit. Sean is also in development on two television episodic projects; one dramatic, the other comedy.

Pogo Pictures has recently completed an extensive commercial campaign for Humana via the Rapp agency. Pogo is also in the midst of a major expansion, with additional Director signings due this year; as well as the launch of a new division.
