Bitvavo is the largest crypto exchange in the Netherlands.

The idea behind the campaign, developed with agency DEPT, was to symbolically illustrate the new and exciting world of crypto to a wider audience.

Sharif Abdel Mawla at Bonkers United directed the film, in which realistic moments were combined with more abstract elements of the ferocious and unpredictable forces of nature.

Award winning actor Sam Spruell (The Hurtlocker, Taken 3, Legend) took on the part of the symbolic potential client in the film. Little did he know he was to literally plunge into a tumultuous storm, while attached to a tremendously high crane and eventually be pushed into deep waters straight after, in full dress. Luckily for him, the actor was to land on a solid foundation in the midst of all the violence of nature; the characteristic Bitvavo logo, lifting him from the water in the end. ‘

The metaphor is to let the world know that if you want to discover the opportunities of crypto, through a reliable and solid platform, Bitvavo is the ‘rock’ you may rely on’ says René Verbong, Executive Creative Director at DEPT. ‘quite an experience, even for an actor with a stature like Sam’s'.

Posthouse Juice took care of the clouds and storm, Audentity added the beautiful and intense film score, while Sam Spruell was still willing to do the VO, despite all that happened to him over the course of the production.
