Clay: an adaptable, malleable substance that, through care and attention, can be shaped into something quite beautiful.
It's fitting, then, that Wonderhood Studios and BLINKINK have chosen this material to illustrate the message at the heart of The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood's new campaign to promote the importance of the first five years of a child’s life.
Directed by Sam Gainsborough, Shaping Us shows how a little girl named Layla develops from pregnancy to age five, with each social interaction shaping her progress. Backed by the gorgeous Breathe a Breath of Me by Lokki, the film's important message and painstaking craft (in an animation form that, ingeniously, reinforces the message) make for a moving manipulation of emotions.
