The LA-based production and creative development company The Cortez Brothers has announced the addition of filmmaker Gaz Alazraki to its roster, fresh off the U.S. premiere of his feature debut "Nosotros los Nobles" at the 16th annual Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival. Alazraki's riches-to-rags lampoon of class in Mexico recently smashed Mexican box-office records (US $32 million) and is currently making waves on the international film stage.

"Nosotros los Nobles" ("We Are the Nobles") reflects Alazraki's humorous take on writing and directing stories across all media platforms. With exclusive commercial representation by The Cortez Brothers in the U.S. and Latin America, the writer-director will continue to keep a foot in the ad world.

"We've kept a close eye on Gaz since meeting him several years ago," says Ed Rivero, The Cortez Brothers' Executive Producer. "We knew he had talent and have watched his career grow by adding more commercials to his reel, and leaping into films in such a big way. He tells and appreciates good stories, and that's the cornerstone of our production company."

A third-generation communications pro, Alazraki is no stranger to advertising. His father was an influential ad man at the helm of several high-profile campaigns for Carlos Slim's many enterprises, while his grandfather was an influential film producer whose film “Raices” screened at Cannes.

Prior to becoming one of Mexico's most celebrated film directors, Alazraki wrote, produced and directed spots for numerous global brands including CEMEX, Quaker State, Telmex, Jewish Film Festival, and Soriana, among others.

The Mexican-born USC film school alumni got his first taste of production soon after graduating, PA'ing and interning on set for Hollywood features ie; "Legally Blonde" and theatre stagings including "Wicked." Alazraki eventually made his way to the director's chair with his own original shorts films, which included "Dusk," "Volver, Volver," and "Respete las Senales."

Alazraki attributes his time in Los Angeles, earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts at the USC Film School, to expanding his entertainment-based vision of the world as a filmmaker and, ultimately, inspiring the broad appeal of “Nosotros Nobles,” not to mention his recent hit appearance at last summer's TEDx Conference with his cheeky "Nine Unlikely Teachers" talk.
