What if the most exciting job in the world got, y'know, a bit boring?
Such is the question behind MullenLowe New York's cheeky spot for E*TRADE, in which an ageing Astronaut explains how dull it is to endlessly journey to the Moon.
“We figured even dream jobs must get old after a while," says Rich Singer, Group Creative Director at MullenLowe. "The thought of an astronaut who’s still doing missions because he can’t afford to retire struck us as really funny.".
Shot by MJZ's Nick Ball, overnight in a rock quarry with a custom rover vehicle, to give it that lunar feel, the spot does its job in a tight 30 seconds, both getting a laugh (the golf shot being particularly chucklesome) and begging the question "If an astronaut gets sick of going to the moon, how tired will you be of your job?".
