Vittorio Giannini returns to Freefolk and Fi Kilroe promoted to CEO
Alongside the return of Vittorio Giannini as Director of Business Development and Strategy, Fi Kilroe appointed as Freefolk’s first CEO.
Independent VFX studio Freefolk announce two major leadership appointments as the company marks its 22nd year of creative excellence.
Vittorio Giannini returns to the fold as Director of Business Development and Strategy, while Fi Kilroe has been promoted to Chief Executive Officer, making her the first to hold the title at the company.
Giannini and Kilroe join Founder and Creative Director Jason Watts and COO Paul Wright to form a dynamic new leadership team. Together, they will steer Freefolk’s continued growth across its advertising, film, and episodic divisions, championing both craft and culture at the heart of the studio.
Watts commented: “As a fully independent VFX studio crafting high-end work across multiple platforms, I’m hugely proud to say we’re now in our 22nd year. What better way to celebrate that milestone than having Vittorio back where he belongs, and Fi steering the ship as our first CEO.”
After a successful 18-month tenure at Omnicom, Giannini returns with renewed focus. “I had a great experience at Omnicom, but there was always a part of me that missed the multi-disciplined expertise at Freefolk. When Fi outlined the scope of this new role, it immediately made sense. Freefolk strikes the perfect balance of culture, experience, and top-tier work, and as a truly independent studio, we can keep that front and centre. I couldn’t be happier to be back with Fi, Jason, Paul, and the whole gang. We’ve got exciting plans and key creative hires on the horizon to take Freefolk to its next chapter.”
Newly appointed CEO Kilroe added: “It’s an absolute privilege to step into this role and lead such an extraordinary team. Having Vittorio back is the icing on the cake, it’s like he never left! With this leadership team in place, we’re perfectly positioned for an exciting period of growth.”
Freefolk recently wrapped post work on new campaigns for FCB/ProdCo and a feature film from Wes Anderson, and are currently in production with Merman, Sky, and Paramount+.
