Responsible for amazing work across the commercials and music video industries, as well as beautiful and affecting short films and, soon, a Danish TV series, Martin de Thurah is a highly sought after and respected director.

In an interview with the YDA, he talks about his start as an artist and his move into filmmaking. He also discusses about his approach to film, his film language - including his use of magic realism - and how he uses automatic writing to find his way into all the projects he takes on.

The culmination of YDA Week comes later today with the 2021 awards ceremony. Kicking us of at 3.30pm BST [4.30pm CEST/10.30am EST] is the awards pre-show where the winners of this year's Born to Create Drama competition will be announced. That's followed by the main show at 4.45pm BST, when the Gold Screen, Silver Screen and Special Jury Prize winners will be revealed from the host of amazing work received this year.

You can follow all the action of this year's Young Director Award Ceremony, in partnership with shots, via the Young Director Award site.
