My Life Project

A beautifully shot film which takes you from a street kid taking a hit on a hash pipe through his glazed eyeball into his south African trailer park style home life: to his mother being slapped about, to his birth, to his father hitting him and back to the present day. As the kid wanders the streets, he comes face to face with a parallel kid who is spiffy in his school uniform and sat on the back seat of his leather-upholstered car. The street kid, meanwhile, paces off down the street with a deep inhalation of glue. Unhappy material but brilliantly done.
