British independent features director Lynne Ramsay makes her music video debut with an anti-narrative documentary style video. Ramsay gathered footage of kids staring relentlessly, menacingly into camera, thwacking punchbags in their bedrooms, shooting with a skeleton crew, just her, her DP and an assistant. It's a nihilist portrait of British disaffected youth she came back with, and one that the record label initially refused to air in the director's cut, dubbing Ramsay's version 'MTV-unfriendly'.
