Ever thought about what an egg at Easter really means (besides a hell of a chocolate hangover on Easter Monday)? They are actually supposed to symbolise rebirth and the start of a new life. So considering the recent events in Japan, TBWALondon has created the Eastern Egg.

With the Japanese having to rebuild their homes, families and lives in the coming months and years, the agency has introduced the uniquely designed wooden eggs which are being sold in the run up to Easter. All proceeds from sales will go to the British Red Cross Japan Tsunami appeal and you get a nice wooden keepsake.

A group of hip young designers have contributed their original Japanese-themed designs for the project, which will be printed onto eggs using the special egg-bot seen in the video above.

You can choose your design and maybe even get to see it being made live via a webcam at Eastern Eggs.
