The European Tour hosts the most versatile golf tournaments in the world, on which some of the most unique and remarkable shots have been executed. Thus, during the variety of holes played, one is likely to witness any number of interesting worm burners, zingers, goldie bounces, knock-downs, and lay-ups, but none as impressive as the shots featured in Saatchi & Saatchi’s Every Shot Imaginable campaign.
In their most recent spot, the London agency dreamt up another pot of challenges as they paired world-famous golfers against the skill of well-known magician, DMC. As the golfers marvelled at the magician’s ability to sail a playing card into a hole, DMC was in mutual awe of the golfers’ ability to play bunker shots blindfolded and hit perfect drives using the wrong side of the club.
The Every Shot Imaginable campaign began in 2010 and featured four golfers competing to be the first to skim a ball 200 yards across a lake and hit a floating nine inch gong. It wasn’t long before the stunt went viral and began showing on television. Since then the videos have been readapted and distributed through social media to target both broad and core golf audiences. Saatchi & Saatchi’s stunts follow suit with similar viral videos that display clever and almost unimaginable feats. The agency’s uncanny ability to identify this popular trend in online viewership, incubate its formula, and execute it with celebrity resources and a large distribution network is inspiring. Perhaps for the next shot Saatchi & Saatchi will achieve the elusive ostrich-a single hole score of five under par.
