When you think of Lacoste, you think alligators, but the next most associated thing that will probably spring to mind is the polo shirt. A design classic, the product is a trademark within the brand and now you can create your own, thanks to a new online campaign from young French agency, MNSTR.

Today (December 12) sees the launch of a new website that allows users to come up with ideas for their own 'Polo of the Future'. Celebrating the iconic L1212 shirt, the campaign is harnessing the power of the brand's massive social media following.

"Lacoste has almost 11 million fans on Facebook," says Louis Bonichon, creative director at MNSTR. "It is one of the brands that has the best understanding of digital communications challenges."

The new campaign follows the previous Lacoste future execution for the brand's 75-year anniversary, which included a successful website and film. And there's another stylish film (above) this time round, helmed by directing duo Fleur & Manu.

Fans can start submitting their designs from today at the dedicated site and the agency will develop the best ideas, as Bonichon explains:

"We'll just illustrate their visions, especially those which follow the spirit of Lacoste: innovation at the service of comfort and elegance."

"Illustrations will be designed from the selected images. The style of these illustrations being inspired by the style of the first Lacoste ads in 1933," he concludes.
