Ads of the Week 17 Oct 2014
In a week that saw no Hotshots awarded, star-studded spots from Guy Ritchie and Baz Luhrman steal the show.
Despite a high volume of content launching this week, it’s fair to say that the world of creative marketing has seen better times and while no Hotshots were awarded in the past five days, standout work to capture the attention did appear in the form of a cool brand spot for Scotch whisky Haig and a short film for Chanel No.5.
Brand Beckham
Shot by renowned British director Guy Ritchie and fronted by everyone’s favourite footballer David Beckham, this scenic film sees Golden Balls and friends retreat to the high hills of Scotland.
Dressed the part and brandishing a big blue bottle of Haig to aid the relaxation, the crew arrive at an estate in Glen Affric near Inverness before raising a toast in the name of the weekend. adam&EveDDB is the creative agency behind the campaign, which is the first TV ad for the new beverage.
Brazilian beauty
From a stylish Scotch to a perfume powerhouse, Baz Luhrman’s new commercial for Chanel No.5, titled The One That I Want, sees famous model Gisele Bündchen take the lead role.
In the commercial, which verges on a branded short film, Bündchen joins actor Michiel Huisman in a tale of life and love that celebrates the many facets of the modern woman.
Carried by Lo-Fang's rendition of You're the One That I Want from musical Grease, the piece was produced in collaboration with Revolver Films and sees the brand surf the waves of creativity for a good three minutes with stunning views of New York City before climaxing with a theatrical kiss scene.
