Every January  football fans across the globe join the discussion around the imminent announcement of FIFA's Team of the Year. In the run-up to the official reveal, EA Sports has enlisted British comedian Lloyd Griffith to travel world and work out which 11 players would get into his team.

Created by Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam, The Quest For The Best is a 24-minute film that sees Griffith interview leading football stars as well as everyday fans. Setting off from Grimsby in the UK, Griffith travels the globe and speaks to, among others, the scout who discovered Messi; ex-players Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs; the world’s strongest footballer, Adebayo Akinfenwa [above]; Opta statistician Duncan Alexander and four-time Ballon d’Or winner, Lionel Messi.

The documentary, directed by Joe Roberts, culminates with Griffith announcing his own Team of the Year; a selection deduced from what he learned on his quest. Griffith’s announcement comes ahead of the official FIFA FIFPro World XI at the FIFA Ballon d’Or award ceremony in Zurich on 11 January 2016.

“An age-old question, an affable host, and wonderful set of interviewees make this a compelling and funny piece of long-form content," says David Smith, Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam creative cirector. "It is a journey that every football fan and FIFA Ultimate Team player will enjoy.”

Alongside the film, a series of short, 30-second films featuring Messi, Akinfenwa, Neville and Giggs, will also roll out on EA Sports’ online channels in the comings days.
