Dick's Sporting Goods: Gold
Nicely burnished sports gear spot riffs on the Olympians' quest for gold.
Stink director Eliot Rausch helms a nicely-crafted Olympics spot.
The epic, minute-long commercial from Anomaly aired in the US during the Olympics opening ceremony last week and is based on the Interesting Science Fact that there are trace elements of gold in all life on Earth.
The sheer lushness of the visuals and stunning directing by Stink USA's Eliot Rausch, save the film from its slightly grandiose tone as it reveals that each of us humans has about 0.2 milligrams of the precious yellow metal lurking within us. However, “only some of us have the strength to dig it out” claims the voiceover, with much gravitas, over scenes of intense-training by four Olympians—Kerri Walsh-Jennings (beach volleyball), Claressa Shields (boxing), Daryl Homer (fencing) and Danell Leyva (gymnastics)—and one Paralympian—Lex Gillette (long jump)—who’s competing in this year’s Games.
