Babbel: An Alien Abroad

If you've ever been to a new city - especially one where you don't know the language - it can sometimes feel like you are from another planet. 

In this ad by W+K London for language app Babbel, an alien named Alexi moves city but struggles to learn the ropes. He tries to ask for directions, order food and engage in bar chat but the cultural differences lead to uncomfortable misunderstandings and he finds it difficult to communicate.

Once he learns the local language with Babbel, Alexi can navigate the city more easily, enabling him to become a regular at his local café. Until one day, he comes full circle and even gives directions to a lost tourist. 

This lighthearted ad feels very relatable for anyone who has struggled to fit in in a new place, yet it's hilarious how normally everyone treats Alexi, despite him being a bright blue, slimy alien.
