On the 30th anniversary of Die Hard, cut 'n' paste artists Cassetteboy have settled the long-running debate on whether it's a Christmas film or not.
Writer Steven E. de Souza kicked off the debate on Twitter in 2017, by claiming the cult action classic is actually a traditional festive film, a claim the film's star, Bruce Willis, slapped down this year, by declaring it's merely set on Christmas Eve.
To celebrate Die Hard's arrival on Sky Cinema, Cassetteboy have re-edited the 1988 film into a 12 Days of Christmas jingle, proving the film is a Christmas flick, with the evidence all found in the script. The video opens on Jon McClane checking into the Nakatomi Plaza, where he's asked by the computer whether Die Hard is a Christmas movie. The action thenuts between the scenes throughout the film that prove its festive heritage. Yippee Ki-Yule, indeed...
The video is part of a larger campaign created by Taylor Herring for Sky Cinema, that includes a national voting website, GIFs and social media content.
