Canadian TV channel Lifestyle has released two sentimental Christmas spots to promote its holiday season films through its existing ‘It's a Wonderful Lifetime’ campaign. Both films were made in-house and have been nicely helmed by directorial trio JEAN, which comprises Eric Eckelman, Armand Prisco and Natalie Prisco.
Lifetime is billed as “the ultimate women’s channel, with stories for women, made by women.” Both ads are unabashed tear-jerkers, cos that’s what women want right? Tears, loads of them, we like, bathe in tears. Actually, that could be partially true, but here is not the place to debate gender issues...
Action Figure
The point is, both ads are good, and both deftly manage to handle emotion without being mawkish: Frosted Love being a tender romance, while Action Figure is a touching tale of a little boy’s attachment to a toy soldier that has a nice twist at the end.
