Set to a choral version of Survivor (originally by Destiny’s Child), the ad is unflinching, showing grief, loss, and anger. This modern, powerful film for UChicago Medicine shows a dedication to craft and production that at first might go unrealized, or might be assumed to be documentary footage.
Director Sandro Miller, out of Bottle Rocket, has tapped into something raw and followed it through. Even the conclusion, where paramedics are shown working tirelessly, doesn’t lose the urgency of the beginning.
