Stop reading. Do yourself a favour and watch this film first. It's worth it. Promise.
All done? Good. Sometimes it's better to have a rug-pulling moment not even hinted at to get the full effect.
Following Zach, a Thurso-dwelling surfer who uses the North Atlantic waves that crash into his sleepy town on the Northern tip of Scotland as his playground, Academy director Luke Davies' charming film starts off as a likeable portrait.
However, with the crash of a wave and some disorientating handheld camerawork, the joys of seeing Zach's contentment are thrown into disarray with the sudden impact of epilepsy.
Using it's documentary style to its advantage (the film being locally street-cast with actors who totally deliver), and with an earned shock that does a sobering service to the cause, #ALifeInterrupted is an impressive PSA that emotionally absorbs before delivering its important message.
