It’s a hard task to transform stock footage into something entertaining, but this nature documentary parody for Aldi does the job with some clever CGI and a funny script.
Mountainous landscapes fade into a raging seashore; horses gallop along the beach, and we’re transported thousands of miles across vistas and scenic panoramas as we hike to reach new heights...on the ladder...we’ve been meaning to purchase. Combining tongue-in-cheek voice over with minimal additions to the stock footage, Aisle of Aldi is a vacation travelogue that segues into a funny reminder that yes...you really did need that inflatable kayak.
Produced by Dark Energy, the editing is really stellar, helping create a sweeping sense of nature that feels both familiar and amusingly different. Aisle of Aldi, directed by Henry Littlechild, is escapist and silly, a very good note for the discount retail chain.
