Before its dramatic resurfacing at a 2020 auction, the existence of Warhol’s Absolut Blue painting, which depicts one of the brand’s vodka bottles, was shrouded in mystery.

Originally commissioned by Absolut in 1985, the work was intended as a part of a collaboration that saw Warhol continuing his exploration of advertising's intersection with art. Warhol created two images, a colourful one (below) used for print and OOH, and a blue one which wasn't used at the time.

The rediscovery of the legendary missing silk screen has ignited this new campaign created in-house by Absolut with director Santiago Sierra Soler, Parapix Stockholm and Studio RM’s colourist Jamie Noble

Featuring a host of eccentric characters based on those that roamed Warhol’s legendary Silver Factory Studio, the campaign film reimagines the energy and creative counterculture that fuelled Warhol's work.
