431 years after Elizabeth I rallied English forces with rousing words, Budweiser is bringing back a reworking of her defiant “heart and stomach of a king” speech in support of the Lionesses, who take on Scotland this weekend as part of the Women's World Cup.
Directed by Laura Scrivano, the campaign features a line-up of famous female faces from the fields of sport, music, TV and film delivering an epic, modernised take on Elizabeth’s words, first delivered to her army in the face of the Spanish Armada and the threat of invasion.
Moonlight and James Bond actor Naomie Harris OBE, actor, model and entrepreneur Suki Waterhouse, former footballer Rachel Yankey OBE, singer-songwriter Jessie Ware, Fresh Meat actor Zawe Ashton and boxing champ Nicola Adams OBE are among the women delivering re-imagined lines such as "you may think I have the body of a weak and feeble woman” and “I promise to reward every one of your virtues on the field of play”. Stirring stuff.
