Cabin Editing Company announces the expansion of its New York roster, with the addition of editors Kat Yi and Maggie Sloane.
Cabin’s east coast outpost opened in 2021 under the leadership of Managing Director Maggie Meade, housed within a stunning 8,000 square foot space in Soho. Cabin NY has grown consistently, with a robust roster of editors and an impressive array of accolades ranging from Cannes Lions to D&AD Pencils.
Of the new editors, Meade shared, “We’re always on the lookout for young, fresh talent at Cabin, and Kat and Maggie each bring unique editing styles that expand our roster. We’ve had our eye on both editors for a while, and the timing was finally right to welcome them to the team.”
Yi is an award-winning editor whose background in directing informs her thoughtful, visual sensibility and polished approach to any project. Working across genres, whether she’s cutting a high-energy spot or a quietly emotional piece, she blends technical precision with an intuitive sense of storytelling. Yi earned an MFA from New York’s School of Visual Arts, directing a documentary short as her thesis project, which went on to be nominated for a Student Academy Award. Since then, she built an impressive career as a freelance editor for many years, working with major brands including Nike, Google, Nordstrom, the NBA, Samsung, and Toyota, to name a few. Along the way, her work has been recognised by AICP, Ciclope, the 1.4 Awards, the Kinsale Shark Awards, and the ADDYs.
Sloane is an accomplished editor known for her whip-smart comedic timing that elevates any project. Her work for brands including Verizon, Dunkin, Stella Artois, Chase, Volkswagen, Volvo, Maybelline, Microsoft, and others stands out thanks to her skillfull blend of humorous dialogue with visual storytelling, hitting all the right beats while never feeling stale. Sloane began her career over a decade ago at Beast Editorial, rising from the vault to Assistant Editor. From there, she joined Friendshop! and later NO6, where she advanced to Editor and continued to hone her craft and editorial style. After five years at NO6, she joined Wax as an editor, and most recently joined Cabin. Throughout her career, she’s collaborated with top ad agencies such as McCann, Ogilvy, and Johannes Leonardo, and with many of the industry’s most sought-after directors including Bryan Buckley, TRAKTOR, Erich Joiner, and others.
