Haycock Joins A Very Small Office A Very Small Office has expanded to a slightly larger one with the news that director Vincent Haycock has joined the company. The announcement was made by Co-Founder and Executive Producer Saffron Case. Prior to joining AVSO, Haycock designed and directed via a number of shops, including Digital Kitchen, Vitamin and Juxtapoz, the online art and culture magazine. "Vince has a strong understanding of advertising and visual aesthetic,” says Case. “His skill-set and ability to see things in ways that others don’t fits in perfectly with our vision for AVSO as a small, core group of creative thinkers. We're excited to have him in the family, and are looking forward to helping guide his filmmaking career." Vincent's most recent directing effort for the British indie rock band Editors, for their single Racing Rats off their second album, An End Has a Start, was recently nominated for best direction in the Best International Video category at the 2008 MVPA's. The moody clip opens with the band performing in a suburban utopia. When the lead singer approaches a cherubic child chalking the pavement, she inquisitively points to the sun which is simultaneously being eclipsed by the moon. All is soon near dark, as bits of light from the sun spotlight each member of the band. Says AVSO Co-Founder/Director Mikon van Gastel, "Vince is such a versatile talent. His use of light and movement on both the design and live action fronts make his work truly memorable.” "I'm happy to be at such a creatively-driven company," notes Haycock. "A lot of companies say they are, but end up getting too big and have to sacrifice quality for quantity. AVSO is a boutique shop and isnullt looking to outgrow its name, and that's just fine by me." Recent commercial credits for Haycock include spots for Sony, Budweiser, Nike and Infiniti. Not confined to spots and music videos, he also collaborated on the Emmy nominated opening title sequence for FX series, Nip/Tuck. Prior, he created the opening titles for David Fincher's Fight Club and The Game. |
