8th Street’s newest Director, Andrew Baird’s work includes 150 campaigns and music videos with top agencies, labels, brands, artists and directors for Bud Light, Burger King, Nissan, Eminem, Ke$ha, BBDO, Ogilvy & Mather, Crispin Porter+Bogusky, Interscope Records, Universal Studios, Warner Bros, and Sony Music Enertainment. Baird’s direction style breaks into the experimental market to perfectly combine his approach to shooting content with his design background. He delivers impeccable cinematic quality while capturing natural poetic moments. Recent projects include the “Ascent of Time” campaign for Japan’s Swiss Reimagined, a complete rebrand of the Victoria Webb England luxury watch line with British fashion designer and Creative Director, Victoria Webb. With virtual reality platforms such as Oculus Rift now on his radar, the director is in pursuit to create a film, which will forever change the viewing experience.

Baird graduated with double honors degrees in both Art Direction and Direction and an award-winning run from the National Film School of Ireland. Debuting with his first commercial for Levi’s jeans, Baird’s work was recognized and sought after by American film producer, Roger Corman to design two films and direct another.

Through his pursuits with Corman, Baird built his own production company called, ASYLUM. Taking his education and experience to the states and back, Baird ventured all over the world exploring cultures, and media, and filmmaking trends. Baird took on droves of projects throughout many countries for international work spanning commercials, short films, and music videos.

Baird’s narrative and cinematic storytelling style has lead to several longer format music video films. Through Universal Records UK and Austria, he was commissioned for the film “Without a Song” along with a three spot campaign that launched Broadway Star, Noah Stewart’s career. Stewart’s performance and the film garnered significant publicity marking Stewart as the first African American recording artist to reach number one on the Classical Music Charts and went onto to be nominated for two Brit awards. U.S. electronic music act, Gunslinger enlisted Baird for their “Breaking Through” music video, a classic style “road film” that stunned audiences for its audacity and intensity. With this, Baird embarked upon enormous developments in digital technology, irrevocably changing the way his films are made. For American heavy metal band, Avenged Sevenfold (A7X), through Warner Bros., Baird conceived the film “This Means War,” as an epic battle, and at over seven minutes is a true assault on the senses. Universal Records then hot new musical talent; The Weeknd went directly to Baird to shoot the title track off his debut album, “Kiss Land.” The long form film was inspired by the dark world of Philip K. Dick (BLADE RUNNER), and has lead to a deal with ICM Partners for Baird’s first feature film, CITY OF ROBOTS, currently in its casting stages.

Baird’s awards and nominations include recognition from the Institute of Creative Advertising & Design (ICAD) in Ireland, Irish Film Board, Clermont-Ferrand in France, and his short film UP THE COUNTRY revived theatrical distribution in the U.S., playing at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood as well as selling to several markets including France, the UK, Germany, Italy, and Canada.
