With artistic direction from Alex Israel, animator and illustrator Valentin Stoll reproduced a tangerine-tinted Venice Beach boardwalk in On The Beach.
As a young woman drives down the ocean parkway before arriving at Venice Beach, renamed Vuitton on the iconic lightbulb garland. In a peachy one-piece, she walks with a surfboard under her arm, stroking out to catch a beautiful, picture-perfect turquoise wave.
The piece is a fun departure from many perfume ads, which are much more prone to be black and white and live-action, making On The Beach graphically charming and playful. With tonal inspiration taken from Los Angeles and the classic surfing documentary The Endless Summer, Stoll creates something modern and nostalgic. Eddy produced and Emile Haynie composed the original score.
