Director Matthew Rojas recently joined Nametag Films and it’s a divine partnership. No, really.

Part of what drew Rojas to Nametag is their reputation for integrity, their faith and the fact that they always put the client’s needs first.

After all, that’s precisely who they work for. Rojas says when you first start out in this business, you don’t always see it that way, but the older you get and the more work you add to your reel, the more you understand the importance of a true partnership with your clients.

Over the past few years, Rojas has created an impressive freelance network which speaks volumes for the way he works. Clients return time and again because of the conceptual way Rojas brings their vision to life.

With Nametag behind him, Rojas will be able to focus more on directing while also returning to the comradery he felt when he started out in-house for churches like Fellowship Bible Church Dallas and Gateway Church, the fourth largest church in the nation.

It was in those churches where Rojas developed his narrative style. “It’s second nature to me now. I have the ability to look at a project and see how I can add to it.”

It was through his love of creating that Rojas discovered short films. Initially self-funded, these shorts about everything from deadlines, encounters with mysterious beings to forgiveness lead to partnerships with The Music Bed and CV North America. In addition to winning awards, his films also won him more work. This time for big brands like 7-Eleven, ESPN and Walmart.

The Walmart project, in particular, felt like he’d come full circle. As a high schooler, Rojas worked at Walmart and it was there, in the middle of a shift, where he felt he was being called to directing.

He enrolled in the Art Institute of Dallas, was introduced to a range of work he’d never seen before and started creating his own look and style.

Rojas is an incredible storyteller. He has a unique ability to hook viewers with gorgeous imagery and then unveil a spot or a film that actually makes you feel. It’s easy to connect with Rojas’ work because it feels wonderfully human and is loaded with human emotion.
