McDonald's Grilled Mushroom Burger And McCafé Yogurt Smoothie Spots From MassMessAge
Spots directed by MassMessAge's Wookie.
McDonald's Korea has launched two new series of commercials, again featuring Daniel Henney (Wolverine: X-Men Origins, Big Hero 6, The Last Stand, Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders) as their spokesperson. Henney has long been a sought out celebrity in Korea, starring in various Korean films, dramas, and commercials. His starring in a recent Korean reality TV show, "I live alone," has also been a big hit in Korea.
Part 2 of the 'Signature Burger Collection' features the 'Grilled Mushroom Burger'. The spot features Daniel Henney inviting friends over to his home for a burger party. Little do they know that the burgers they're having is the new Grilled Mushroom Burger Henney has secretly ordered from McDonald's. The spot was actually shot a day before the already aired 'Golden Egg Cheeseburger' signature launch. A retreat house was set dressed, doubling as Henney's home in L.A.. A golden retriever makes a brief appearance doubling as 'Mango', Henney's real-life canine companion.
The new McCafé spot features McDonald's Korea's new 'Apple Mango Yogurt Smoothie'. The story revolves around a coincidental rendezvous at McDonald's between Henney and a new girl in town. Their chance meet develops into a romantic encounter where Daniel Henney makes the final move in getting acquainted with the female lead.
Again, Leo Burnett Seoul Creative Director 'Myung Sun Kim' and Producer 'Nina Nho' aimed for a more natural and down-to-earth look, for both spots. The latter having a rare but sweet storytelling structure that actually feels like a short film. MassMessAge Director Wookie Paik is no stranger to storytelling structures. His two short films "One Shot" and "Seoul Tour," garnered international recognition in various film festivals.
