For proof that print isn't dead, look no further than this cool campaign from Nike and Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam, which recounts the dazzling career of NBA star Dirk 'The Maverick' Nowitzki.
During his 21 years in the NBA, Nowitzki was the league’s highest-scoring European, the first big man to shoot threes and the original stretch four. Now, those achievements have been enshrined in rhyme and illustrated in splashy comic-book style in a limited-edition book.
With just 41 copies issued (to match the number on Nowitzi’s jersey), the agency expanded the campaign by turning the book into an online film, transforming the illustrations into moving animations and getting one of Nowitzki’s best friends – fellow NBA legend Steve Nash – to narrate it.
