Pakistani-Canadian director Haya Waseem has joined Object & Animal for representation in US, UK and other territories. Growing up in Switzerland and speaking several languages she now resides in Brooklyn.
Waseem's work has a universal yet considered approach. Her ability to tell a story which feels both authentic and relatable using measured cinematography and layered storytelling, has in part been informed by her previous career as an editor.
"There's a depth and maturity to Haya's filmmaking, but it somehow also feels fresh and youthful. The quality and consistency of her storytelling is equally magnetic from her commercial pieces to her long-form narrative work. We are so excited about this journey with Haya" - Morgan Clement, Founding Partner, Object 8. Animal.
Waseem's most recent work includes a standout piece for Seize the Awkward for Ad Council through Droga5 NYC, and a film for the Working With Cancer Pledge for Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Research through Le True and Publicis 6roupe. The films marked her two first collaborations with Object & Animal.
Her debut feature film, Quickening, received rave reviews at TIFF 2021, and she is currently working on her second feature film.
"I am excited to be joining the roster at Object & Animal," comments Waseem, "because the EPs are true champions of great work and great talent. It's inspiring to be surrounded by strong creatives, in a supportive environment. I can't wait to share our work and keep building a bold vision for the future together."
