Partners Film Adds Director Michael Downing

The Toronto and L.A.-based director Michael Downing has signed with Partners Film for representation in the Canadian market. Downing broke onto the commercial film scene in 2004 with his "Boardroom" spot for Science World via Rethink that earned him two Gold Pencils at the 2005 One Show and a Bronze Lion at Cannes. In 2005, his "Skydiver" for Bud Light, via DDB Chicago, ranked number one on USA Today's Big Game Ad Meter for the 2005 Super Bowl.
Since then he has gone on to direct work for Stride, Orbitz, Honda, Toyota, Wendy's, Burger King, Comcast and HBO, just to name a few.
"Michael has an amazing ability to bring humor and storytelling to life on the screen," says Aerin Barnes, Executive Producer, Partners Film. "Although he is now a world-renowned commercial film director, his roots are in Toronto, and we're are pleased to welcome him to our roster for Canadian Representation."
Downing started directing as a small child, when he used to tell his friends what game they were going to play and how it would end. He later studied acting and started his own small theater company. He graduated from the American Film Institute and won a student Academy Award for his graduate short film entitled "Fine." This eventually led him to working in commercial film.
He's represented in the US by Epoch Films and by Independent in London.
