With speculative futures too often turning grim, this light-hearted satire of gang films is a hilarious addition to the bill of musical parodies.

Including nods to pop culture moments and with inspiration taken from films like The Warriors and Grease, Fireworks is an explosive pop of color. With impressive choreography and a premise that doesn’t take itself too seriously, the film dips, pirouettes, and parades through a car lot, creating a surreal showdown between the Boomers and Gen-Z gangs. With the power of shrimp cocktails and sweaters worn around the neck, Boomers rock out, causing more than enough trouble for the newest generation.

With fun, campy retro vibes, director Greg Barth has captured some of the essence of what makes musical theater great; condensed sets, absurd characters, and brilliantly absurd costuming. The piece was produced by Rekorder and Common People Films.
