You Only Love Me, directed by acclaimed creative Charlie Sarsfield and shot in the LA suburbs, depicts a fictional wedding through the lens of a Stepford Housewives meets Alice in Wonderland style narrative.

The vibrant film features hyperreal scenes of a bride’s big day turned tumultuously upside-down, (with bad bridesmaids, the venue going up in flames, and more), as well as a surprise cameo from fairy godmother Sharon Stone who tries to save the day.

A global team effort, Untold’s production team in LA shot the visual with the VFX team in London helping to elevate Sarsfield’s vision, polished off with a grade from Aubrey Woodiwiss also based out of the LA studio.

Director Charlie Sarsfield explains, “The concept for You Only Love Me is centred around a nightmare wedding but we wanted it to feel somewhere in between a dream and a nightmare, where everything is continually going wrong but building up incrementally throughout the visual.”

“We cast a group of ‘bad-maids’ around Rita, focussed on making the day amazing for themselves, rather than Rita. Colour plays a really important role in this. The ‘bad-maids’ are dressed in bright, clashing colours, whereas Rita is in a neutral palette throughout, highlighting the idea that she is out of place in a surreal world.”

“I drew inspiration from directors such as Tim Burton and Wes Anderson in terms of colour, shooting style, production design and accessories. Pairing slow camera zooms and vibrant colours with bold outfits and wigs, reminiscent of movies such as Edward Scissorhands."

"Rita was truly amazing, she is an artist that knows her strengths and she gave a great performance. The video is a bold release, stepping away from the traditional pop video and making something that we both wanted to make. We had a lot of fun in the process too!”
