With fun transitions and a muted color palette, Sam I (as Sam Speigel) directs his own music video for Shake.
Letters and words float, pop, burst, and fade into the background, sometimes inflated like balloons, other times covered in fuzz. The textures blend and mold into the cartoonish letters, a strange, distant animation that is strange, soft, and mesmerizing.
With a fun animation style that feels nostalgic and modern, Shake is a music video is well matched to the relaxing, synth-pop beat. The piece was produced by Squeak E. Clean, and the animation was led by Verpi Kettu. The figurines in the video were sculpted out of clay by director/animator Kettu, and later 3D modeled by San Serif.
