Spot Welders Signs Editor Livio Sanchez

Editor Livio Sanchez has moved to Spot Welders, bringing with him a extensive and diverse body of editorial work, including commercials, music videos, documentaries and independent films. Most recently he cut the much-publicized “The Wilderness Downtown,” an interactive by @radical.media’s Chris Milk, for the band Arcade Fire. Livio regularly collaborates with Milk on music videos as well as commercial work. (For more on the project, click here.)
Sanchez joins Spot Welders following an illustrious bicoastal and global editing career. The editor of the much-heralded original Budweiser ‘Wassup’ spot, he began his career at Mad River Post, where he first worked with current Spot Welders Partner and Editor Dick Gordon on a Miller Lite package. From there his career progressed, with stints at The Whitehouse, Final Cut and then Filmcore, now Beast. During this time his work amassed numerous awards, including a Cannes Gold Lion and honors from AICP, AICE, MVPA and D&AD, to name a few.
Among the directors he’s worked with are Kathryn Bigelow, Scott Hicks, The Hughes Brothers, Janusz Kaminski, Stacy Peralta, and Marc Webb. He also works with agencies such as The Martin Agency, GSD&M, DDB and Weiden + Kennedy, and advertisers and brands such as Nike, Google, Anheuser Busch, The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, ESPN and PBS.
Says David Glean, Founder and Executive Producer of Spot Welders, “We couldn’t be happier. Livio is the consummate professional, with an impressive pedigree.” Adds Gordon, “ I’m thrilled to be working with Livio again. He’s taken his career to an amazing place and been doing some incredible work. The combination of his talent and commitment to his clients will make him a great addition to the team.”
“I’ve always been a great admirer of Spot Welders, and have a history with a lot of its people, having worked with Dick as well as with (New York Executive Producer) Joanne Ferraro at Beast and with Dan Maloney, Neil Smith and Richard Orrick at The Whitehouse. The timing was fortuitous for me to join a creative shop such as this, which is home to so many people I know and respect.”
Sanchez joins a Spot Welders editorial roster that includes Robert Duffy, Catherine Bull, Haines Hall, Dahkil Hausif, Michael Helman, Pam Martin, Lucas Spaulding, Jón Stefánsson and Brad Waskewich.
