Writer/Director Steven Antin, the talent behind the recently premiered feature film "Burlesque," which stars Cher and Christina Aguilera, has joined TATEUSA for international representation for commercials, music videos and webisodes.

The relationship between the director and TATE USA started when he was awarded a global Skyy Vodka spot that was to be produced by TATE.  "He just nailed it," recalls David Tate, Partner at TATE USA.  "Steven's clarity and energy with the client was electric." The assignment spot started a dialogue between Antin and Tate that has since paid off. "I love David's enthusiasm – it's so infectious," quips Antin.  While the Skyy job eventually got shelved, the relationship between the director and the EP didn't.

Prior to his work on "Burlesque," Antin has directed commercials for such brands as Calvin Klein and music videos for such artists as Girlicious, Pussycat Dolls and Paul van Dyke. Glam and pizzazz seem to be a big part of his work; for example, The Hollywood Reporter called "Burlesque" a "toe-tapping, flamboyantly smart and sassy expedition back to MGM musicals."

"If that's not commercial then I don't know what is," exclaims Tate.  "It was a stroke of genius to pair Aguilera with Cher" he says of the director, who was dubbed "The Diva Whisperer" by The Advocate.  The film is scheduled for high profile premieres this month in Tokyo, Madrid and London, as well as special screenings in Berlin and Paris.  To capitalize on this, TATE USE is mounting an effort to ensure Antin's capabilities are recognized by advertising agencies and their clients both in the US and abroad. And, notes Tate, with burlesque itself making a come-back, "advertisers may very well want Steven's inspired touch as they conceive campaigns to catch this wave.
