Tantrum Productions are excited to announce that Icelandic Director Thora Hilmarsdottirhas joined the company for UK representation.
This is the second signing of Icelandic talent for Tantrum after Samuel & Gunnar joined in 2018. Following this successful union they are looking forward to working with the wonderfully talented Hilmarsdottir.
Hilmarsdottir is an artist and filmmaker from Iceland. She studied Film Foundation at The European Film College in Denmark. To combine her love for art, video-installation and film, she studied at Central St. Martin’s in London where she graduated with a B.A. honours in Graphic Design & Moving Image.
In 2014 Thora made her directorial debut, Sub Rosa, a short film that went on to receive a nomination for Best Short at the Icelandic Edda Awards and picked up awards at San Diego Film Festival and Reykjavik International Film Festival and went to festivals all over the world. Hilmarsdottir also directs music videos and commercials.
Salvation is Hilmarsdottir’s latest short film that was recently nominated best Scandinavian short film at Nordisk Panorama, nominated best short at the Icelandic Edda awards and has been to over 50 film festivals around the world and still going.
Hilmarsdottir is working on two feature projects; The thriller Konur (Women) a film adaptation by a best selling Icelandic book and an Icelandic sci-fi TV project NYX (KULDI) that recently won a Nordic genre boost development grant from the Nordisk Film & TV fund.
Hilmarsdottir has also directed episodes for the series Valhalla Murders, the Netflix series Katla, Stella Blomkvist S02 and most recently she finished two episodes in an upcoming Sky supernatural thriller The Rising.
