The Travel Video Awards (TVAs) launches a new series of categories for 2019 in coordination with NAB Show. Created by Citizine Networks, Inc., the TVAs honor innovative and inspiring travel videos and travel video ads by independent filmmakers, the travel industry, media companies and lifestyle brands. This year there will be no entry fees for any submitted videos that meet the awards’ requirements.

The expanded 2019 programming slate for the TVAs will include a new Travel Video Advertisement awards category along with a series of travel-related panels at NAB Show in Las Vegas (April 9, 2019).

“In our first year, we had 366 entries from filmmakers and brands across 26 countries, including CNN, American Airlines, W Hotels, Princess Cruises, various tourism boards, The North Face and Travel + Leisure magazine, among others.” This year we have already seen a 50% increase in submissions from over 36 Countries” said Citizine Founder and CEO Philip DeBevoise.

Given the success of the first annual Travel Video Awards in 2018, I’m extremely happy and grateful to announce that NAB Show will be continuing and expanding their sponsorship of the TVAs”, stated DeBevoise. DeBevoise added that “the positive reaction to the first annual TVAs is now translating into interest by a number of potential sponsors from the travel, media, lifestyle, media products and financial services industries who are looking to reach our audience of over 250,000 creators, marketing and media executives across the globe who travel extensively and are the key-decision makers as to where to film their next projects (movies, TV series, commercials, music videos, digital series, etc.).”

DeBevoise continued, “The $600B+ online travel bookings are fueled by a consumer base that uses video over 60% of the time when making those travel decisions,”. “Travel videos are a powerful marketing tool, similar to what music videos are for the music industry—highly engaging content that leads to transactions. As MTV created the Video Music Awards (VMAs) to honor the creative work of the music industry, the TVAs seek to do the same for those indie filmmakers, travel, media and lifestyle brands creating incredible videos showcasing the lifestyle, culture and beauty of destinations across the globe.”

The Travel Video Awards is expanding its partnership with NAB to build upon this concept by connecting a growing travel media video market with the professionals and brands that support the creation of these videos. The expansion includes SPOTLIGHT, a monthly newsletter featuring the latest branded travel videos and travel video ads via interviews with the creators, brands and agencies behind these projects; and the launch of TVAdb, a curated database of high quality travel videos from around the world that can be filtered by destination, filmmakers and brands, making it a valuable resource for the travel industry who wants to see the best travel videos as well as discover new talent and review the work of peers in the industry.

The TVAs recognize a variety of distinguished cinematic and cutting-edge digital video content within two tracks. Self-financed projects will be recognized within the Independent Track.

Projects from the travel industry, lifestyle brands and media companies will be recognized in the Industry Track. Winners from each track will receive distinction awards. Additionally, winners of the Nomad Award and two Audience Awards will receive cash prizes.

All video submissions must have aired or been digitally published between January 1, 2018 and December 31, 2018. The submission period opens October 1, 2018 and ends February 10, 2019. Additional information about the awards and other TVA programming is available here.
