Following the announcement of their first new album in five years, American rock band Vampire Weekend have unveiled this contemplative music video, directed by Nick Harwood through Object & Animal, for their latest track Capricorn.
Immersive and atmospheric, the film opens with grainy archival footage of abandoned NYC subway carriages filmed by Steven Siege, who shot the cover photo for their upcoming album, Only God Was Above Us.
Jumping between dynamic shots of grainy cityscapes and hauntingly still, run-down buildings, the choppy, flickering visuals offer a nostalgic glimpse into a bygone era, perfectly complementing the gentle acoustic track with its forlorn and reflective lyrics.
