Created by Johannes Leonardo and directed by Lance Acord through Park Pictures, this charming Big Game spot for auto brand Volkswagen is a nostalgic tribute to a 75-year-long love affair between Americans and their VW vehicles.
Titled An American Love Story, the vibrant tour starts with the arrival of the first Type 1 vehicles. Splicing historical and recreated footage, it encapsulates Volkswagen’s most recognisable cultural moments, including scenes from Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo, The Simpsons, and Star Wars character likenesses.
The creative is perfectly paired with Neil Diamond’s impassioned 1971 hit I Am… I Said, which, just like the first Beetle on its journey to America, resonates with those who seek to find a sense of belonging in an unfamiliar world.
