YayBig signs directing team Coworkers
Coworkers, otherwise known as Nick Johansson and Robert Larson, join the roster at YayBig
Production company YayBig announced today that it has named directing team Coworkers, otherwise known as Nick Johansson and Robert Larson, to its roster.
Coworkers are perhaps best known for recent work such as their behind-the-scenes film for Kahlua—featuring Jeff Bridges, or “The Dude,” and the history of the White Russian—and their piece for SuperSoaker, “The Thin Wet Line,” which was listed for the 2012 Shots New Director Award.
The duo were actual coworkers, sharing an office at production company, Smuggler, but officially started working together when they directed “The Thin Wet Line.”
“Robert moved into my office in the vault at Smuggler, and we just started bouncing ideas off each other,” Nick says. “We quickly realized he was the Thelma to my Louise.”
YayBig was formed through a partnership with director Sherwin Shilati and film producer Ben Friedberg. “Coworkers have a style that’s beautifully crafted, makes you smile and tugs at your heartstrings, all at the same time,” Ben says.
“We call it ‘heartwhelming,’” Robert says. “We’re working on the trademark for that.” *
For Coworkers, the choice to work with YayBig over other companies pursuing them came down to personality fit. “They have the same drive we do, the same love for the craft,” Robert says. “We were inspired by their passion.” It also helped that YayBig’s new director of sales Charles Hayes also comes from Smuggler and wrote the “Thin Wet Line,” and his first goal was to bring his former coworkers on board.
*Not really.
