Adams, Hens Take the Snap from IWFL for Reality TV Play

Executive Producers Ashley Adams and Stephen Hens of Santa Monica-based Beef Films and Chop House Edit have signed an exclusive 12-month agreement to develop a reality television project for the Independent Women’s Football League (IWFL), an all-female full-tackle football league. A non-profit organization, it provides women the opportunity to play tackle football nationwide and also allows women and men alike the opportunity to coach, manage and even own a sports team.
“The story behind this league, and the stories of the women who participate in the sport, are intense,” says Adams, who along with Hens are Partners in Beef Films. “Going behind the scenes and finding out what inspires the organizers, players, and fans, is going to open a lot of peoples’ eyes. This isn’t golf or volleyball, it’s rough and raw. As a woman business owner, I’d been looking for a project to produce that might be the physical equivalent of what women go through in the professional world, and this is it! It’s going to make for great television.”
Adams and Hens’ production and post-production credits include an array of projects, including CNN Heroes; Discovery Channel’s “Through the Wormhole,” starring Morgan Freeman; “Single Ladies” (VH1); “That Girl” pilot (MTV Networks); “The Idiot Hall of Fame” pilot (Spike TV) and music videos for Black Label Society (Artisan Records). This list also includes the features “Gardens of the Night” (Lions Gate Films) and “Triple Dog” (Well Go Entertainment), as well as commercial projects for Nissan and Ford, and this past summer’s high-profile and highly effective IFAW “Save The Whales Now” PSA, featuring Pierce Brosnan.
The team is producing a teaser presentation and will begin pitching the series to networks shortly.
The move caps a busy season for Beef House and sister post facility Chop House Edit. A PSA the studio produced for the Rhode Island Food Bank won a Gold Award at the recently held Jay Chiat Festival in Miami, and Adams was recently nominated for a seat on the AICP’s National Board of Directors.
