We've no doubt that the current situation will provide fuel for shorts for quite some time - the limited spend on locations, potential for at-home tech and shared experiences all being handy ins for cash-strapped filmmakers.

However, said filmmakers had better hurry up, as some of the shorts we've seen already emerge from lockdown are knocking it out of the park.

Case in point is Fertile, an enjoyably relatable film from LA-based director Bianca Poletti, following a bored-out-of-her-mind lady as she finally succumbs to her mothers nagging and agrees to go on an online date with her accountant.

With charming performances from Andrew Bering and, in particular, Laura Seay - never has boredom been less boring to watch - and beautifully captured by Poletti's artistic eye, this short tale of connection through separation is a Covid corker.
